Elyes Gabel has a long history in the entertainment industry. Gaining recognition with his breakout role as Dr. Sandhu on the BBC medical drama Casualty over two decades ago, Elyes began looking into new areas of film and television, along with his music career, to expand creatively.  He began his producing, writing and directing career in 2017 when he directed Stakes - a short film exploring the high stress and combustible dynamic in the finance culture. Following the success of Stakes, he directed and produced the short film Grimshaw in 2018, exploring themes of drug addiction, regression and the loss of individual freedom.

Elyes then went on to found his own production company, Roughened Verse Entertainment, welcoming all new and established talent to have a home for everything film, tv, and music. Following a stream of successful roles on such major hits as Scorpion, Game of Thrones, and Suspicion, Elyes brings a wide range of experience as unique as his ethnicity and the diverse roles he plays.  His work has also attracted the notice of guilds and critics, with nominations from the National Television Awards and the Screen Actors Guild.  His passion for directing is inspired in part by his early career interactions, playing roles in films with film luminary directors such as J.C. Chandor and Christopher Nolan.

Being cast in a wide range of complex, emotionally difficult roles didn’t happen by chance. Elyes’s desire to stretch his limits with less than perfect characters has led him to make these choices.  Elyes’s need to challenge traditional narratives reflect in his writing and directing choices as well. His passion for all the details and the difficulty of the work that goes into filmmaking has led him to chose nuanced stories filled with engaging and layered narratives when he steps behind the camera.

Elyes’s latest project finds him directing, writing and producing Game Show Hurt. He is looking forward to sharing this latest endeavor with the world very soon.
